With all the rain, the path up to Rubha Hunish was a tad muddy in places. I met only one person and one dog. Neither peed over the cliff edge, unlike the man who thought he was all alone in the world last time I was here. Being alone at Rubha Hunish does happen, but not in tourist season.
It’s not particularly far from the car park, but the last bit is up, and up, and up. The old coastguard hut (now the Lookout bothy) serves as a tormenting useful landmark.
From in front of the coastguard hut, you’re looking out over the northernmost tip of Skye, Rubha Hunish. There’s a rather steep drop in between… I never stand as close as this photo suggests, it’s zoomed.
What caught my eye was the way the sun was casting a strong shadow on the sea stack that’s visible from the top.
