Painting in Progress: Two Sheep

In Acrylics, Painting, Sheep on 4 February 2012 at 18:35

I’ve had an idea involving sheep running around my mind for a while, and today began to translate it onto canvas. I put two smallish canvases side by side and worked them simultaneously. It gives me more than one try at the idea, helps prevent me fuss at it as I’m painting.

They’re still works in progress. I’ll leave them overnight to dry, but already know I want to add more tonal variation to the faces, which are a bit flat, and probably eyes.

Work in Progress -- Sheep paintings by Isle of Skye artist Marion Boddy-Evans

Work in Progress. Size 12x16 inches (about 30x40cm).

  1. What happened to Sheep Painting No 1 – dated 29/08/2009? I liked that one too.

  2. I think Sheep painting no.1 is sitting on a shelf amongst other works on paper. Could dig it out for you!
